Rainbows In The Rearview
Albee Layer fits no mold.
Let’s start by scratching comp guy off the list. According to the WSL’s website, he’s competed in only one non big-wave event since 2011.
Speaking of big waves, Albee’s quite good in them. He was nominated for the WSL Big Wave Awards Ride Of The Year in 2016 for getting barreled at Jaws—and that was before people were really getting barreled at Jaws. But you can’t call him a big wave guy, because he’s been the first to land a handful of airs that the rest of the world’s surfers are still struggling to figure out.
Then he’s a freesurfer? Kinda. Except a lot of them rely on an image catered to the trends of the day, and Albee often jokes about not being “one of the cool kids.”
So, truly, he exists on an island.
That island is called Maui and it is the location in which Albee’s new film, Rainbows In The Rearview, was shot. We say “Albee’s new film” because he legitimately edited it. It features Albee alongside Matt Meola, Tanner Hendrickson, Torrey Meister, Kai Barger, and Tyler Larronde. The action is A+ and there are shots so beautiful they’ll make you want to quit everything, move to Maui, buy a van, and annoy each of the aforementioned surfers.
RITRV comes in at nearly forty minutes long, and includes the footage from the wave Meola claims makes him “more terrified than Jaws.” Yeah, don’t miss that end section.

Andy Irons and the Radicals
Presented by Stab Magazine
More than any other surfer of the new century, Andy Irons changed the way surfers look on waves. For some of us, he changed the way we felt riding them. Watch Now: https://geni.us/AndyIronsRadicalsEB
"Andy Irons and The Radicals" is a deep dive into Andy's surfing life, as told by the radical generation that came up alongside him throughout the 1990s and into the first decade of the new century, and a thorough examination of why ten years after his death, Andy Irons' surfing is still surf culture's radical North Star.

Short Films

Out Front
The Graveyard of the Atlantic is teeming with life -- and every season has its own energy.
Out Front is a Surfline Original series celebrating core surf communities around the world by showcasing their unique wavescapes, culture and local surfers — filmed by local filmmakers.
There’s a lot more to the Outer Banks of North Carolina than a few salty miles of Cape Hatteras real estate, OBX propaganda and pirate lore. Young local filmmaker and proud ‘townie’ Logan Marshall hunted high and low — and steep and deep — to unearth a fresh perspective on a historically enchanting place..

32* 79* And Thriving
What was once an 8 day trip to Puerto Rico turned into 50 something days chasing windy wedges, glassy tubes and fat air sections. VACA is a short edit of our time spent waiting around for competition season to kick off again. No better way to do that right?

VACA
For those of you who don’t know me, my name is Ronan Lurkin and I have grown up surfing here in Charleston. Recently, my friends Graham McAlister Ella Grant and I have been filming a documentary involving what it was like to grow up surfing here. Yesterday we released our first trailer on Instagram and I thought I would share it on here as well. The documentary is called 32° 79° and Thriving and we would love for everyone to share it and spread the word. We hope to release our flick sometime in mid August, so if you enjoyed this trailer, feel free to head over to our Instagram @3279andthriving and give it a follow. We appreciate the support!!! Thanks
